"A new square for San Donato Milanese"

FABRIC was awarded second place in the San Donato competition, which challenged participants to define the placement of the weekly market. Our proposal used this brief as an opportunity to completely redesign the landscape of the square in front of the historic church and the adjacent park. Instead of confining the market to the paved piazza, we envisioned it along a pathway crossing the park, allowing visitors to experience it immersed in greenery. The project revitalizes the surrounding area with new cycle paths, urban furniture, children’s playgrounds, lighting, and potable water points, creating a connected, functional, and welcoming public space. The design balances heritage, functionality, and contemporary urban life, offering a versatile vision that transforms the church square and park into a lively community hub.
